The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat of Mangalore organized a 58-days long bookstall at National Consumer Fair Exhibition at Karavali Utsav Ground, Mangalore, India.
Located about 350 kilometers west of Bangalore, Mangalore is the chief port city of the state of Karnataka.
The bookstall, inaugurated on September 14, 2013, by Moulana Muhammad Kaleem Khan, Missionary In-charge, South Zone Karnataka, was open until November 10, 2013.
Mangalore is a multi-religious and multilingual area where more than seven languages are spoken in and around this coastal city.
The Bookstall exhibited translations of the Holy Qur'an in 44 languages.
English, Kannada, Urdu, Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu books were made available for purchase and pamphlets in these languages were freely distributed.
According to the event organizers, more than two hundred thousand people visited the Exhibition and about 50 thousand people visited the Ahmadiyya bookstall.
Abdus Salam, Secretary Dawat-e-Ilallah for the Mangalore Ahmadiyya community, said they were successful in clearing many misconceptions about the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat. “Several people recorded their impressions after visiting the stall.”
But, Salam adds, there were some heated discussions also with some persons whose intentions clearly were to somehow shut down the Ahmadiyya stall.
"But by the Grace of Allah and owing to the prayers of Hadrat Khalifatul Masih the enemies of Ahmadiyya Jamaat could not carry out their inimical designs,” Salam asserted.
During the bookstall, Kannada version of the book "Was Ahmadi Jamaat planted by the British?" was released by the local Ahmadiyya Jamaat President, Muhammad Yusuf and Shahid Badruddin, Secretary Dawat-e-Ilallah of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Organization of South Zone Karnataka.
