AMRITSAR: The 122nd annual convention (Jalsa Salana) of Ahmadiyya Muslim community began at Qadian on Friday with the unfurling of the community's flag, followed by a recitation of Quran, at Ahmadiyya Muslim Ground.

The first session of the convention was chaired by Maulana Muhammad Inam Ghaori, chief secretary of Ahmadiyya Muslim community, India. Addressing the mass, he suggested that the delegates spend three days of the convention remembering the Allah. He also urged the participants to take up the cause of developing their country as well.

In Pakistan, Ahmadiyya's have been declared as non Muslims. They are not allowed to term their places of worship as mosque, give "azan" and were even subjected to severe punishment if they call themselves Muslim.

The community had also been raising their voice at the international level against the alleged brutality of the Pakistan government towards them.
