The AMYA held a charity challenge in April, with members invited to present the proceeds to MK DONS SET, its chosen charity.
Dennis Woolford, Inclusion Manager at MK Dons Sport and Education Trust (SET) said: “We (MK Dons SET) are pleased and proud to be working together with the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association (AMYA) in our community engagement programmes.
“Volunteer representatives from AMYA have supported a number of major events in 2013 that include staffing of our family fun match days and our Show Racism The Red Card anti-racism campaign. AMYA has also nominated the SET as one of its chosen charities as a beneficiary of their fund raising.
Here today we have representatives from the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association to present a cheque for £12,000 to John Cove , chief executive of the SET) and Dennis Woolford, Inclusion Manager.
“The proceeds of this generosity will go towards the SET Inclusion programme that works with people with disabilities, people from black and minority ethnic communities and people at risk. This is a very wide remit for such a small department and the funds raised will help to support a number of projects such as disability football and other sports, MK Community Cup for emerging teams and community engagement projects aimed at hard to reach groups.
“AMYA volunteers are also seen as key to the sustainability of these programmes and part of our joint aims are to promote positive working together programmes that include training, coach education and mentoring support. We would like to take this opportunity to express our most sincere thanks and gratitude to all at the AMYA for your kindness, generosity and support and we look forward to developing this partnership in 2014. Our most sincere thanks and very best wishes to you all.
“Let’s have a big MK Dons thank you to the Amadiyya Muslim Youth Association.”
