We live in an era where many global conflicts are occurring simultaneously which are dividing the world. As Canadians, we should be role models and showcase our unity.

Canada’s strength is to remain united. It is unfortunate that Parti Québécois leader Pauline Marois once again hinted at separation of Quebec from Canada. She has suggested that Quebec as a separate nation would have its own passports and nation identity. In-reality, Quebec’s national identity is interlinked with the national identity of Canada.

On a visit to Canada, leader of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Mirza Masroor Ahmad stated, “Canada truly represents the coming together of different people to form one unified nation.” Our unity is the hallmark of our nation. We live in an era where many global conflicts are occurring simultaneously which are dividing the world. As Canadians, we should be role models and showcase our unity.

As an Ahmadi Muslim, I firmly believe that conflict or division within a certain region will not remain confined to those particular regions and may end up trickling through the entire nation. I hope Quebec decides to stay united with Canada so we can continue to progress as a whole.
