The world is heedlessly treading toward a global conflict. In the words of Mirza Masroor Ahmad, “The major powers of the world, such as Canada, should play their role towards establishing peace.”

Peace through justice should be the fundamental goal in any conflict. Prime Minster Stephen Harper has been relatively outspoken in the last few days while touring Europe.

He has expressed his support for Ukraine and many Canadians are applauding him for taking this step. He has shown that Canada does have a voice on the world stage but great wisdom is required to tackle this issue as it is causing restlessness worldwide.

Leader of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community, Mirza Masroor Ahmad, while addressing Stephen Harper stated, “My request to you, and indeed to all world leaders, is that instead of using force to suppress other nations, use diplomacy, dialogue, and wisdom.”

I hope Stephen Harper keeps this crucial advice in mind as he strives to resolve the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

The world is heedlessly treading toward a global conflict. In the words of Mirza Masroor Ahmad, “The major powers of the world, such as Canada, should play their role towards establishing peace.”

As an Ahmadi Muslim, I pray that our prime minister is able to understand this pivotal goal and takes actions which lead us toward a more peaceful world.
