UK: Different cultures, religions and organisations mix for AMC annual peace conference

HUNDREDS of guests from different cultures, religions and organisations met for the tenth annual peace conference.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community (AMC) Slough welcomed guests including representatives from the British Army, the Royal British Legion and Thames Valley Police to the peace symposium on Saturday (26/4) at The Langley Academy in Langley Road.

Burnham Royal British Legion president Bob Slater gave a speech, as did the Mayor of Slough cllr Balvinder Bains, and students from Burnham Park Academy presented a special art exhibition based on the this year’s theme of 'love for all, hatred for none’.

The keynote speech was given by Maulana Bajwa, the Imam of the Baitul Futuh Mosque in London, and he also presented Lieutenant Colonel Duncan Weaver, a priest of the Church of England, with a copy of the Quran, the religious book of Islam.

Atiq Ahmad Bhatti, president of the AMC Slough said: “This year we have witnessed that no matter what our differences, what unites all faiths, all peoples, all organisations, is that we all share in the message of love for all, hatred for none.

“This year we have seen a high calibre of guests ranging from the British Army to the police, from MPs to councillors. All sharing the common underlying theme of love for all, hatred for none - it’s been a truly remarkable symposium this year.”
