Muslims to hold 10th consecutive Annual Peace Symposium - - spreading the message of Love For All, Hatred For None

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Slough will be holding their 10th consecutive annual Peace Symposium on Saturday April 26th 2014 at The Langley Academy.

The Peace Symposium is now very much an annual event in Slough Town’s diary. Now in its 10th consecutive year it attracts an impressive array of distinguished guests ranging from Members of Parliament, Councillors, representatives from various voluntary communities and organisations, religious organisations, Head Teachers, GP’s and academics to name but a few.

Speaking at the event will be various dignitaries who will be presenting their views on a subject themed on Peace: ‘Love for All, Hatred for None’

This year’s Symposium coincides with the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community’s UK Centenary Celebrations. It was in 1913 that the community was established in the UK and where London’s oldest purpose built mosque, aptly titled The London Mosque, was established in Southfields, South West London.

This year the guest list for the Peace Symposium includes the Mayor of Slough; Fiona MacTaggart – MP for Slough; Imam Naseem Bajwa – Imam of Baitul Futuh Mosque in London – Western Europe’s Largest Mosque; The Chief Superintendent, Thames Valley Police; The President of the Royal British Legion Burnham; The Royal Berkshire Fire & Rescue Service; The Royal Air Force High Wycombe; The British Army; Burnham Park Academy

The Peace Symposium is a distinctive opportunity for various faith and community representatives in and around Berkshire and Buckinghamshire to share their thoughts on subjects which can aid in promoting Peaceful Coexistence presented from their own perspective.

Its aim is to promote better understanding between faith and community groups in order to develop a more harmonious society.

Atiq Ahmad Bhatti, President, AMA Slough said:
“One of the beauties of living in Slough is being a part of its diversity.  We have a multitude of cultural and religious variety, all of which coexist alongside one another. In a unique environment such as this, it is important to share this splendid diversity with each other and remind ourselves of the values that we have in common. With each year that passes and the increasing unrest in the World, the need for this becomes more and more apparent.”

Doors open at 15:00, for a 16:00 start.

The event lasts for two hours, concluding with an opportunity to mingle with one another whilst enjoying an assortment of refreshments.

Entrance to this event is FREE and those wishing to attend are requested to email or telephone to confirm their attendance.
