As the first anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombings approaches, one Muslim community is preparing to do what it does best- presenting the true teachings of Islam by action instead of mere words.
The Boston Chapter of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, USA has joined hands with the city of Boston and the Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) to honor the victims of the Patriot’s Day tragedy last year by sponsoring a “Muslims for Life” blood drive. All Bostonians are encouraged to show support by donating blood.
Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA is the oldest Muslim presence in the country. With around seventy chapters across the nation, its mission is to revive Islam in its pristine form and also to clear misunderstandings about it including the ideas that promote it as a religion of violence. It categorically denounces any form of terrorism and continues to grow worldwide due to its peaceful presence.
“Muslims for Life” campaign was originally launched in 2010 to reiterate Islam’s message of peace and sanctity of life. The concept is to remember those who lost their lives as a result of terrorist attacks of 9/11 by holding blood drives all over the country. Since then, this campaign continues to save thousands of lives every year.
On September 30, 2013, the Massachusetts House of Representatives passed a resolution “congratulating ‘Muslims for Life’ and the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA on a successful blood drive”. Rep. William Galvin stated, “My thanks to Ahmadiyya Community for their hard work you put to organize this event, well done”. “I am happy to co-sponsor this event to help honor the victims (of 9/11 and Boston Bombings) and their families”, he further added.
This year the Boston City Hall will be hosting a “Muslims for Life” blood drive on April 11, 2014 at 10 O’clock. These blood donations will benefit the patients supported by the Boston Children’s Hospital and the Kraft Family Blood Donor Center at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
