They want to amend the image of Islam and discuss concepts: This weekend Ahmadi Muslims gather in Rheinstetten. Almost all members of the community in Germany have travelled in. Their chairman has one particular wish.

Muslims strongly have to encounter the image of Islam as a violent religion, requests the chairman of the Muslim community, Abdullah Wagishauser on Friday at the trade exhibition facilities in Rheinstetten, Karlsruhe. Through awareness and education one could take the wind from the sails of Salafis. In order to do so all Islamic groups would have to get together in dialogue.

The German Islam Conference gives Wagishauser the opportunity to move the dialogue forward. While elsewhere there are jabs and shoves but this a constructive get-together. Just as in other religions, Islam too has big differences between various schools of thought. To overcome these differences peacefully it requires time.

The Muslim community Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat (AMJ) is organizing their yearly congregation from Friday to Sunday at the trade exhibition facilities with the motto “Love for All, Hatred for None”. With about 35,000 participants it is the largest Muslim congregation in Europe. It absolutely opposes violence and counts on interreligious dialogue and mission.

The Ahmadiyya community was founded in 1889 in British-India. It is persecuted as a sect in most countries lead by Muslims. In Germany the community is said to be well integrated. In Hesse and Hamburg it is recognized as a corporate body of public law and is therefore equal to Christian churches. Nationwide the community runs about 40 mosques.
