Ghana: "Maulvi Wahab Adam Was A Guardian Of Public Morality" - Vice President


Mr Amissah-Arthur said he had known the late Mauvi Adam over the years, especially the role he has played in bringing peace and unity in the nation together with his humble nature and the important roles in the educational development of the country.

The Vice President, Kwesi Amissah-Arthur has described the late Maulvi Wahab Adam, the Ameer and Missionary in charge of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission in Ghana, has passed away at the age of 79, as an extraordinary person who was a guardian of public morality in Ghana.

The Vice President said the late Ameer would be missed because of his selflessness and dedication to work, especially in the area peace, unity and was someone who had passion for the promotion education and religion in Ghana,something he did till his passed on, citing some of the roles he played including his work the Ghana Peace Council.

The Vice President made the statement when the highest decision making body of the mission called on him at the Flagstaff House to officially inform government about the demise of the late Dr Muavoi Wahab Adam on who passed on the Sunday 22nd June 2014 afternoon at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital's Cardio-Thoracic Centre.

Mr Amissah-Arthur said he had known the late Mauvi Adam over the years, especially the role he has played in bringing peace and unity in the nation together with his humble nature and the important roles in the educational development of the country

The Vice President said the last time he met him was on the 24th April 2014 at the 82nd annual conference in Pomadze in the central region, where they discussed the development of education and the peaceful nature of Islam in Ghana, Where he learnt a lot from the late Ameer.

Mr Amissah-Arthur said he had conferred with President Mahama and that government would participate fully in his funeral on Wednesday of this great man who has paid his dues to Ghana.

On his part the acting Ameer of Mauvi Mohamed Ben Sali thanked the Vice President for giving them an audience at a short notice and announced the date for the final funeral rites of the late Ameer.

He said Wednesday 25th has been set aside for the funeral rites thus funeral prayers at the forecourt of the State House then followed by burial ceremony same day at the missions burial grounds.
