Nowhere in the Quran are such killings justified. On the contrary, these types of acts are condemned. Islam rejects violence and preaches to love and be lovable.

Sir: As a practicing Ahmedi and a human rights activist, I fail to understand what the murderers of Dr Mehdi Ali Qamar could have possibly gained from his death. The man left a comfortable life in the US to help the needy and impoverished people of Pakistan. He was generous enough to lend help cost-free. And what did he get in return? Barbaric and savage treatment from those who claim to be the supporters of God’s cause on earth.
This barbaric act of violence is clearly the result of a state-sponsored persecution of minorities, or more specifically the Ahmadiyya community. It is not the first time that a member of this community has been murdered for his religious beliefs.
Nowhere in the Quran are such killings justified. On the contrary, these types of acts are condemned. Islam rejects violence and preaches to love and be lovable.
