25 cyclists complete 600-mile Ride4Peace charity challenge across Britain

The Secretary of State for International Development, Rt Hon Justine Greening MP, will join local leaders to welcome the cyclists, escorted by 200 London cyclists, as they complete the final leg of a national charity bike ride across the UK.

A core team of 25 cyclists began their 600 mile endurance ride in Glasgow last Sunday and have stopped at 10 mosques, and the Bailiff Bridge First World War Memorial, en route raising £100,000 for British Charities.

The Ride4Peace event is just one of the several events that the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association UK has organised to celebrate its 100 years of establishment in Britain.

The ride, which reaches London’s largest mosque on Saturday, will honour the fallen as part of a wider Muslims for Peace campaign. As the country commemorates the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings this weekend, hundreds will gather at the mosque to not only welcome the cyclists but also to pray for peace.

Rafiq Hayat, National President of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community said:
"Our ride for peace reflects our commitment to serving this country and humanity through our devotion to peace, loyalty, charity and tolerance.

"As Ahmadi Muslims we feel privileged to have this opportunity to make a valuable contribution to charity and demonstrate the importance of good citizenship."

“As we remember those who gave their lives for the cause of peace it is our duty to make sure we do not let their sacrifices go in vain. As Muslims we seek to promote peace in every aspect of life, from serving humanity to upholding our hard fought freedoms”
