Imam Mohammed Zafarullah is appointed as the new southwest US regional missionary for the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA to be stationed at the Baitul Hameed Mosque in Chino, California.

According to a statement issued by the Baitul Hameed Mosque, Imam Zafarullah replaces Imam Shamshad Nasir who was stationed at the Baitul Hameed Mosque in Chino for the past decade, and he was recently transferred to his new post as the Northern Midwest regional missionary in the greater Chicago area.

Imam Zafarullah, as he is known, was born in Pakistan in 1958 and has devoted his life to serving Islam since 1982 after graduating from Jamia Ahmadiyya, a multi-lingual seven-year missionary training seminary in Rabwah, Pakistan.

Imam Zafarullah served in various parts of Pakistan for eight years until 1991, when he was transferred to Sierra Leone. He served the Ahmadiyya Community in West Africa for six years as an Imam and missionary, as well as an administrator and teacher at an Ahmadiyya secular secondary school. In 1996 he was transferred back to Pakistan for two years, where he worked at the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community’s headquarters in Rabwah.

After his arrival in the U.S. in 1999, Imam Zafarullah first served in Dayton, Ohio, for five years and in 2004 he was transferred to Houston where he served as the Southern regional missionary for the next ten years, in charge of missionary outreach for Houston, Dallas, Fort Worth, Austin, Tulsa and New Orleans.

Here in Los Angeles, Imam Zafarullah's missionary duties cover Southern California, including San Diego. He is also responsible for serving the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community chapters in Phoenix, Tucson and Las Vegas. He is married and has four children.

In his missionary work and outreach efforts, Imam Zafarullah focuses on building interfaith connections through civic and humanitarian involvement in, and contribution to, the communities he and his fellow Ahmadi Muslims live in. He also makes a concerted effort to reach out to Muslims of other denominations in order to communicate to them the true teachings and purpose of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, whose motto is “Love for All - Hatred for None.”

The worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Community was established by Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, the Promised Messiah and Imam Mahdi, in 1889. Their motto is: “Love for All – Hatred for None.” Ahmadis are the only peaceful, non-political and unified body of Muslims in the world. They are united under a spiritual leader (Khalifa) who condemns all terrorism and works tirelessly for global peace and interfaith harmony.

  1. Welcome Imam Zafrullah to So. California. We enjoyed Imam Shamshad's efforts in building bridges while he was the Imam of the Chino mosque. We look forward to interacting with the new Imam as well.
