Members of the St John’s Church in Dewsbury joined forces with the Spen Valley branch of The Ahmadiyya Muslim Association to raise money for charity.

More than 80 people turned up and raised £500 for Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice.

Dignitaries and faith leaders, including
Coun Paul Kane (Lab, Dews East) and Rev Canon Kevin Partington, were joined by members of the community for the tea party last Sunday.

Guests were treated to a range of food and drinks, including cakes, samosas, sandwiches and chocolates.

Local businesses donated raffle prizes and visitors also took part in henna painting and nail art sessions.

Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice has been holding tea parties throughout August to celebrate Yorkshire Day.

President of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association Arif Ahmad thanked everyone for their generosity.

“The event was a great example of people from differing backgrounds working together for the greater good,” he said.

Rev Kathy Robertson also thanked all those who attended for making the event such a success.
