The Vice-President, Mr Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur, has urged the leadership of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission in Ghana to continue to lend support to the government’s effort towards nation building.
He sought prayers from the mission for the government in the face of the economic difficulties and stressed the need for Ghanaians belonging to other religious faiths to join hands in the quest to move the nation forward.
Mr Amissah-Arthur made the request yesterday when he visited the headquarters of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission in Accra to congratulate the new Ameer and Missionary in charge of the mission, Maulvi Mohammed Bin Salih, on his confirmation as the leader of the mission.
While congratulating the new leader on his ascension to the high office, the Vice-President lauded the Ahmadiyya Muslim community in the country for contributing to peaceful co-existence among the various religious faiths.
He paid glowing tribute to the immediate past Ameer and Missionary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission, Maulvi Dr Wahab Adam, who died on June 22, this year, for his selfless and dedicated service to peace building in the country..
Mr Amissah-Arthur assured Maulvi Bin Salih of the government’s support and cooperation to achieve the vision which he had set for himself.
Welcoming the Vice-President, Maulvi Bin Salih, explained that the Head of the Worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad Khalifa-tul Masih V, at a recent convention in the United Kingdom, confirmed him as the Ameer and Missionary in charge of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission in Ghana.
He told the Vice-President that following the death of Maulvi Dr Wahab Adam, Hazrat Mirza Masroor, as a matter of urgency, appointed him to fill that vacuum by acting as Ameer.
He conveyed to Mr Amissah-Arthur Hazrat Mirza Masroor’s appreciation of the government for organising a befitting state burial for Maulvi Wahab Adam.
The new Ameer reiterated the resolve of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community in Ghana to keep the peace the country was currently enjoying, adding that the faith was also committed to instilling discipline among all its members.
Maulvi Bin Salih promised the Vice-President his support for the government towards promoting the collective interest of the people.
