A group of young Muslims have raised £600 for the Royal British Legion.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association sold poppies at Preston North End’s home game with Fleetwood Town on Saturday.

17 youngsters took part, including a 13 year old, with the money raised in just 80 minutes from both home and away fans.

A youth leader from the AMYA said “The holy founder of Islam, Muhammad taught that loyalty to one’s nation is a part of faith. Our soldiers serve to safeguard the many opportunities this country has provided us with and these collections are just a little way in which we try to give something back to these brave heroes.”

The money goes to help soldiers who have injuries or who are trying to resume a normal life after fighting in conflicts.
