India: Ahmadiyya Youth Association raises awareness, holds successful blood drive in Kolkata

Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya, the youth wing of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Kolkata joined with their the international humanitarian NGO, Humanity First, to organize a Voluntary Blood Donation Camp on Sunday, November 2. The camp was held in association with Kolkata Swastha Sankalp (K.S.S.), a local NGO working in aid of dialysis patients.
The camp started with a brief opening ceremony chaired by the district president of the Ahmadiyya community of Kolkata, Mr. Zafar Ahmad. The event was attended by local Ward Councillor, Mrs. Farzana Chowdhury and Officer-in-Charge of the local Police Station, Mr. Noorul Abshar.
The event was also attended by Senior Missionary-in-Charge Kolkata, oulvi Jamal Shariyat Ahmad; Asst. Missionary-in-Charge Kolkata, Jb Moulvi Zahurul Haque; President Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya Kolkata, Muhammad Zafar Eqbal.
Youth president Muhammad Zafar Eqbal spoke at the opening ceremony followed by guests speeches of Councillor and Officer-in-Charge. Community president Mr. Zafar Ahmad thanked the partcipants and led a silent prayer.
The registration of blood donation began at 10.30 p.m. The camp was also attended by a few other local NGO representatives.
The programme was advertised through Facebook and Whatsapp, informing around 1500 people throughout Kolkata. The Camp was well covered by local press, reporting the entire event and event photos of the camp and donors were published.
Total 23 (twenty three) litters and 100 (hundred) grams blood donated on that day.
