ST Paul’s Anglican Church in Frankston is welcoming floral tributes to victims of the Sydney siege.

Churchwarden Kaylene Vlasveld said people were trying to come to terms with the tragedy in which two people were killed during a siege by an Islamist gunman.

“We would like to offer the community an outdoor space to gather to reflect and leave floral tributes,” she said.

“Residents can leave tributes at the peace pole in the front church garden in memory of the two young people who lost their lives, for the hostages and those affected by the siege in Martin Place.”

Meanwhile, members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim group, which has a mosque in Langwarrin, condemned the siege.

The group, which has the motto “Love for All, Hatred for None”, released a statement supporting law enforcement authorities.

Ahmadiyya Muslim community national president Imam Kauser said: “I’m shocked and strongly reject any atrocity on the lives of the innocent.

“Such actions are criminal and totally contrary to the teachings of Islam. We are grieved that such an attack is done in the name of Islam seemingly.”

Leave your tributes at the church, cnr of Bay and High St, Frankston.
