The Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association North West visited Chorlton yesterday for the fifth leg of its tree planting marathon taking place this Autumn.

The group having already planted well over 5,000 trees in neighbouring Croxteth, Vlackley and Gorton have worked with the Red Rose Foundation to plant a further 1,00 trees in Chorlton Park.

This is part of ‘Muslims for Humanity’ campaign in which aover 100,000 trees have been planted across the UK.

Each year AMYA utilise tree planting initiatives to educate their younger members on the importance of looking after the environment, a key tenet of their faith. In Chorlton park, AMYA members planted fruit trees for the first time and it is hoped this extra challenge will encourage even more of their younger members to come along. With children as young as six expected to participate, the association hope their efforts will, in the long run, bear fruit in more ways than one.
