President John Dramani Mahama has commended the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission of Ghana for the great role it is playing in ensuring peace and tranquility in Ghana and the world at large.

President Mahama made the remark when a high-powered Ahmadi Muslim delegation led by the newly appointed Ameer and Missionary in charge, Alhaji Maulvi Noor Mohammed Bin Salih, called on him.

The visit was to formally introduce Maulvi Bin Salih as the new Ameer and Missionary in charge.

The occasion was also used to formally invite the President to the official opening of the 83rd National Annual Convention of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission, Ghana which will take place at Pomadze in the Central Region from January 8 to January 10, 2015.

President Mahama described the late Ameer, Dr Wahab Adam as "a very good man, pure in heart and very friendly to everyone".

He further averred that the late Ameer Adam promoted peace and peaceful co-existence among all religions and was very much liked by all the religious leaders; muslims and non-muslims.

President Mahama expressed the conviction that the new Ameer would fit into the shoes of the late Ameer and even move the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission to a higher level.

The Ahmadiyya Mission, President Mahama noted, is a disciplined Muslim religious organisation which adheres faithfully to the teachings of Islam.

President Mahama was very happy to hear that the current Supreme Head of the Worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Hadrat Mirza Masroor Ahmed, Khalifatul Massih V, served here in Ghana.

President Mahama was also informed that during his service in Ghana and as an agriculturist, he carried out successful experiments on commercial wheat production in the Northern Region.

The President, therefore, appealed to the leadership of the mission to submit a copy of the study to his office for study and possible implementation by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture.

The newly appointed Ameer, Alhaji Bin Salih, assured the President of the mission’s readiness to partner the government in the development of the country.
