Perspective: Resolution to serve | letter - Saeed Chaudhry
This year, I have also made resolutions of my own. As a Muslim, we have been taught to serve mankind. As God says in the Quran, “Show kindness to parents, and to kindred, and orphans, and the needy, and to the neighbor…” (4:37).

As we are starting a new year and everyone is making New Year’s resolutions, many people have resolved to go to the gym, to lose weight and try to be healthy.
These resolutions are great, but we should also think about helping other people.
This year, I have also made resolutions of my own. As a Muslim, we have been taught to serve mankind. As God says in the Quran, “Show kindness to parents, and to kindred, and orphans, and the needy, and to the neighbor…” (4:37).
Similarly, the Prophet of Islam, Mohammad, has specifically stated “feed the hungry and visit the sick.”
Keeping the above teachings in mind, my resolution is to serve and strengthen my community by helping the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association achieve their goal of feeding 100,000 people in 2015.
I would also like to partake in food drives and soup kitchens, and I encourage all the readers to help serve people in need.
