The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Chicago, Glen Ellyn Chapter held a meeting to discuss life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

The event comes on the heals of the recent attack at the offices of a publication in France, killing 12 people in reaction to the publication's ridiculing of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him.

The discussion took place on Saturday, January 17th at the Baet-ul-Jaamay Mosque.

Approximately 250 members attended the meeting along with outside guests including Lieutenant Jim Mendrick and Sergeant Ed Moore of the Glen Ellyn Police Department.

The program was presided by Imam Shamshad A. Nasir, president of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community of Glen Ellyn.

Usman Villegas, a young new convert to Islam Ahmadiyya, and Dr. Iftikhar Ahmad, president of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association, spoke on the life of the Prophet Mohammad.

Imam Shamshad Nasir shed light on the various aspects of the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad.

"The Holy Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be on him, was sent for all ages and all nations by God and he came to connect human to his Creator," said Imam Shamshad.

Imam Shamshad advised the members that Prophet of Islam Mohammad always exhibited patient and he supplicated for those who were persecuting him. Imam said the Prophet never took revenge from anyone at all, so we must fallow his example in our lives if we want to become true Muslims.

Imam Shamshad narrated from events reported by the companions of the Prophet Muhammad that a woman used to throw garbage on Prophet Muhammad everyday but to her disappointment Prophet Muhammad never uttered a word in reaction. One day Muhammad inquired about the women when he did not came across her throwing garbage on him. On finding out that she was very sick, he gently asked if she needed any help and she was astonished by his greatness and kindness and later was able to recognize the truth.

There was an informal question and answer session at the followed by dinner and prayers in congregation.
