India: Mumbai Ahmadi Youth Volunteers Clean Up Key Parts of City


After more than 5 hours of nonstop cleaning, the volunteers nearly changed the look of the garden areas which were public dumping grounds.

The Mumbai chapters of the two levels of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association, Majlis Khuddam-ul Ahmadiyya and Majlis Atfal-ul Ahmadiyya, organize Misali Wiqare Amal [Exemplary Spirit of Dignified Labour] under the banner of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan [Clean India Mission].

Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is one of the initiative announced by the Indian Prime Minister Nrindra Modi and, in the national spirit, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community throughout India has organized many clean-up events including one held at the community's national headquarters in Qadian, Punjab.

The Mumbai effort was held on Sunday, 1st February, from 7:15 am to 12:15 pm and more than 25 Ahmadi volunteer participants took to the streets, cleaning two Gardens and a Service Lane of Mumbai Central Railway Station.

Mumbai Central is a renowned location in the heart of the Financial Capital of India and one of the busiest railway station in the country.

Program started after morning prayers under the leadership of local youth president and per guidelines from Western Railway, the volunteers split into groups and started to clean up, sweeping, cleaning and collecting garbage for disposal.

After more than 5 hours of nonstop cleaning, the volunteers nearly changed the look of the garden areas which were public dumping grounds. The Railway, Railway Protection Force officials and passersby were delighted as well as astounded by this service rendered by this handful group of people.

The officials praised the commitment shown by the Ahmadiyya youth and the the youth association members have decided to do frequent similar Wiqare Amal events.

President, In-charge and director of Ahmadiyya Muslim Men Association, Majlis Ansarullah, Mumbai participated and encouraged the enthusiasm of all volunteers.
