The Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association will be holding an open house on the Qu'ran at the Brantford library on Saturday from noon to 4 p.m.

The association is a non-profit, charitable religious organization in 206 countries worldwide, including 86 in Canada, said spokesperson Noman Khalil.

The purpose of the open house, he said, is to "allow residents of Brantford to come and learn what the Holy Qu'ran truly teaches about freedom of speech and blasphemy.

"With the recent terrorist acts of extremist groups, such as ISIS and al-Qaida, it has become very important to condemn terrorism and dispel misconceptions about Islam," said Khalil.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association has organized a nationwide campaign that includes stops in 33 locations to "educate people about the true teachings of Islam, to battle 'Islamophobia' and show people that Islam does not support or promote terrorism."
