Canada: The Words of the Prophet
"We want to show non-Muslims what we're all about. With Muhammad there was no violence, no radicalism, no extremism. Those have nothing to do with the pristine founder himself."

There's nothing to be afraid of.
That's the message a Muslim group is issuing to all Hamiltonians this week, as they hold an information session on their religion and its founder, the Prophet Muhammad.
Hanan Ahmer Sobhi, an imam and missionary with Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama'at in Hamilton, said hundreds are expected for the event this Thursday at Sir John A. Macdonald Secondary School.
He says it's for Muslims and non-Muslims alike, and is the first of its kind in the city.
"People aren't going to be bored," promises Sobhi, noting there will be a lively combination of video, audio and guest speakers.
"We want to show non-Muslims what we're all about. With Muhammad there was no violence, no radicalism, no extremism. Those have nothing to do with the pristine founder himself."
Sobhi said some of the congregation's 500 members have been knocking on doors, issuing personal invitations. They also handed out flyers on the weekend at the Around the Bay road race.
"It's unusual, but it's something that needed to be done," Sobhi said. "Before anything (about Islam) gets set in the mind, we want people to come and listen and see for themselves."
Muhammad: The Astonishing Story of the Prophet will be held at Sir John A. Macdonald, 130 York Blvd. Registration is at 5:30 p.m.; the program runs from 6 to 8 p.m. For more information, see theprophet.ca or email Hamilton@theprophet.ca.
