To the Editor:

My dear neighbors, Nusrat Mosque is the first mosque ever established in Minnesota by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. Considering so much ongoing violence throughout the world, in the name of Islam, I can imagine the fears and reservations you might have about having a mosque in your neighborhood. However I want to assure you that, since its inception in 1889, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community has always promoted the true teachings of Islam – peace and tolerance.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is the leading Islamic organization to categorically reject terrorism in any form. More than a century ago, its founder, Mirza Ghulam Ahmad emphatically declared that the doctrine of violent jihad goes against the teachings of the Quran and the practice of Prophet Muhammad. Ahmad said, “To entertain ill-will against a government under whom life is lived in freedom and there is complete security and religious obligations can be discharged to the full, is a criminal step and not Jihad”.

So my dear neighbors, the members of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community are not only faithful to their religion but are equally loyal to their country. Their commitment towards their faith never contradicts with their allegiance towards their beloved country. They are the most law abiding and engaged citizens among their respective communities taking part in a variety of humanitarian services. The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community initiated “Muslims for Life” Campaign in 2011, which has now become a nationwide annual event collecting more than 10,000 pints of blood every year potentially helping to save more than 30,000 lives per year.

I hope I have been able to minimize your fears. Please feel free to visit Nusrat Mosque and talk to one of us. I would also like to extend my heartfelt invitation to you to join us for the formal inauguration ceremony of Nusrat Mosque on May 23 from 1-3 p.m. Because of the limited seating, please RSVP by sending email to nusratmosque@gmail.com or calling 763-392-0281.

Finally, I leave you with the message, “Love for all, hatred for none”, the motto of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. May God bless America!
