In these days of mourning we all must focus our prayers and thoughts for those who lost their lives, their families and for the future of Pakistan. We all support our Ismaili brothers and sisters during this very difficult time.

"Truly, to Allah we belong and truly, to Him we shall return."
(The Holy Quran, Surat Al-Baqarah 2:156)

Unfortunately today another horrific terrorist attack took place in Karachi, Pakistan. Six gunmen on motorbikes targeted a bus, with Shia Ismaili Muslims in it. The peaceful community was on the way to worship.

45 people, mostly women and children were gunned down, with many others injured.

Indeed it is yet another dark day in Pakistan. Words cannot express the horrific events that took place.

This has not just caused outrage in Pakistan but also internationally.

We would like to send our deepest sympathies to all the families affected by this tragedy in Karachi.  It is not just Pakistan mourning, but the whole world mourns with you.

The appalling attack is a terrible act of evil.

In these days of mourning we all must focus our prayers and thoughts for those who lost their lives, their families and for the future of Pakistan. We all support our Ismaili brothers and sisters during this very difficult time.

No religion of the world allows this type of violence. These cruel acts are totally unacceptable in Islam. Our society must not dehumanise this situation and just move on. We must remember, reflect and develop strategies for peace.

Islam is a religion of peace and tolerance. It is not for us to decide who the ‘right type of Muslim’ is; our role is to follow the teachings and principles of Islam.

The terrorists may escape the Judges and courts of the land, but one day they all will meet their maker Allah, the Almighty. He will ultimately hold them responsible for their actions.
