Group calls on U.S. Congressional Representatives from Michigan to support H.R. 1568 – Protecting Religious Minorities Persecuted by ISIS Act of 2015.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association (AMYA) USA, an auxiliary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, has been vocal about their opposition to ISIS and their anger over the recent execution of 30 Ethiopian Christians.

On Friday, May 1, 2015, the AMYA will hold their 2nd Annual “Muslim Youth Day on the Hill” to meet with U.S. Congressional Representatives from their 70 chapters across the country. The national group has already secured over 80 meetings. The focus of these meetings will be to ask for support in the group’s national “Stop The CrISIS” campaign, geared towards stemming the tide of youth radicalization, and to request that Representatives support House Resolution 1568 that would grant asylum status to Religious Minorities that are directly persecuted by ISIS.

The Metro Detroit Chapter located in Rochester Hills will be meeting with 11 House and Senate Legislators from Michigan to ask for their support in promoting the group’s efforts to educate the public on the differences between the hateful ideology of ISIS and the peaceful message of Islam, as well as supporting H.R. 1568 which is co-sponsored by Congressman John Conyers, Jr. MI-13.

The press release also stated that the national group will join Representatives Jackie Speier (D-CA) and Ted Poe (R-TX), and at least 20 members of Congress, to re-launch the Ahmadiyya Muslim Caucus for the 114th Session, which aims to stand up for persecuted religious minorities (including Christians and Yazidis).

The meetings on Capitol Hill begin 9 a.m., followed by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Caucus launch at 10:30 a.m. (U.S. Capitol Building, Room HC-8), and a Friday Prayer service at 1 p.m. A Walk Against Radicalization will happen on the National Mall following the prayer.
