Hon. Michelle Rowland Invites Young Members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Australia to the National Parliament in Canberra

Forty young members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community from across the country participated in an historic visit to the National Parliament
Over 40 young members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Australia visited the National Parliament in Canberra on 16th of June 2015. The delegates came from all states and the Australia Capital Territory to represent their local youth chapters.
The historic visit to the Parliament was on the invitation of Hon. Michelle Rowland, Federal Member for Greenway and Shadow Minister for Citizenship and Multiculturalism, who spoke highly of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in the House of Representatives.
The invited delegates, most of them school and university students, held a non-partisan roundtable meeting with a number of prominent parliamentarians including Hon. Philip Ruddock MP, Hon. Richard Marles MP, Hon. Laurie Ferguson MP, Hon. Julie Owens MP, Hon. Jason Wood MP, Hon. Jason Clare MP, and advisor to Hon. Bill Shorten answered various questions posed by the young delegates.
The group also visited both the House of Representatives and the Senate and observed question time proceedings from the visitors’ gallery.
A private tour of the parliament house was also organized by Ms Michelle Rowland’s office. The delegates were shown different areas of the iconic national building and importance and history of the Australian federation as well as the new parliament house was explained.
Imam Kauser, the National President of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association Australia said,
"It’s a great privilege and an honour for our Association to receive such an invitation from our friend and Member of the Federal Parliament Hon. Michelle Rowland. Indeed it’s a historic event for us. This unique opportunity has brought our youth closer to the national policy making process and meet their national political leaders in the House of Representatives and in the Senate."The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is a dynamic, reformist and fast-growing international revival movement within Islam.
