Four addresses to be delivered by Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad during three-day event

The 40th Jalsa Salana (Annual Convention) of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Germany began earlier today with a Friday Sermon delivered by the World Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, the Fifth Khalifa, His Holiness, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad.

Prior to the Sermon, His Holiness raised the Flag of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community (Liwa-e-Ahmadiyyat) to officially inaugurate the event, whilst the German National Flag was also raised.

Over 30,000 delegates from dozens of countries are expected to attend the 3-day event, during which Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad will deliver a total of 4 addresses, including an English address to non-Ahmadi guests on Saturday afternoon.

During his Friday Sermon, His Holiness spoke about the important spiritual goals and objectives that those attending the Annual Convention should keep at the forefront of their minds.

Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said:
"This Jalsa is not a worldly festival, nor it is a route towards worldly gains. Rather, those who attend should focus on the remembrance of God."
Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said that each Ahmadi Muslim should seek to strengthen their relationship with Allah and to reach the high standards set by their elders who first accepted Ahmadiyyat. His Holiness said that the Jalsa Salana was a very important opportunity to strive towards enhanced spirituality and a closer relationship with God Almighty.

Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said:
"You should spend the Jalsa Salana in the remembrance of Allah and prayer. Remember, when you pray in the same place it is not just a means of benefit to you individually but also a means of benefit and blessings to the Jamaat collectively."
The Khalifa went on to discuss the spiritual revolution brought about by the Holy Prophet of Islam (peace be upon him). He transformed his followers so that those who were previously entirely irreligious became engaged in fasting during the day and prayer during the night.

Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad said that in this era it was the Founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, His Holiness, Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad of Qadian (peace be upon him) who had once again brought a spiritual revolution and explained Islam’s true and peaceful teachings.

His Holiness gave the example of a former thief who accepted the Promised Messiah (peace be upon him) and was asked what evidence he could give in support of the truth of Ahmadiyyat. He replied that he himself was a sign, as he had abandoned his immoral lifestyle and reformed upon becoming an Ahmadi Muslim.

The Khalifa said in this era it is the duty of all Ahmadi Muslims to strive towards righteousness. His Holiness said all Ahmadi Muslims should critically examine themselves and ask whether they are truly fulfilling their responsibilities towards God and their responsibilities towards their fellow humankind.

The previous evening (4 June) Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad inspected the arrangements for the Jalsa Salana, which is being held at the Messe Karlsruhe.

His Holiness urged the organisers to take every opportunity to care for the guests of the convention. His Holiness said that they should consider the opportunity to serve the guests as a great honour.
