Imam condemns "slaughter of Irish and British tourists"

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Galway will hold a minute's silence at Friday prayers in honour of the victims of the recent terrorist attack in Tunisia.

The community will hold the minutes silence during prayers tomorrow in the Miriam Mosque in Ballybrit, "to honour the Irish and British people who were slaughtered," said the Imam of the mosque, Ibrahim Noonan. The Ahmadiyya community throughout Ireland will be holding similar events tomorrow.

"There is no place for extremism in Islam," Imam Noonan told the Galway Advertiser, "and I condemn the attack. We will stand with the people of Ireland and will fight extremism with them, shoulder to shoulder."
