The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community of LA Inland Empire participated in City Of Ontario Independence Day Celebrations on July 4th 2015 with a patriotically decorated float and scored a special award and recognition from the judges evaluating the entries for creativity and originality.
The women's auxiliary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Lajna ImaIllah, designed the float that reflected the "Muslims For Loyalty" campaign.
The float was awarded the "Most Patriotic Red, White and Blue Award" and the community was presented with a trophy and an award banner by the City of Ontario.
Nearly one hundred members of the community including men, women and children participated in the 2 mile parade along with the float.
"It's great to see Ahmadi Muslims taking lead in assimilation and participation in civic activities everywhere," said Imam Muhammd Zafrullah, regional missionary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA's Southwest Region. "Loyalty to the country of residence is part of our faith, not just a slogan on our banners."
"Even Twitter was abuzz with news of Ahmadi Muslims throughout our great nation participating in 4th of July Celebrations today," Imam Zafrullah observed.
The community handed out some 1200 Muslims For Loyalty flyers to the spectators along with T-shirts, visors and nearly 500 water bottles displaying Muslims For Loyalty labels.
The parade had an audience of over 10,000 people and 89 entries.
The Ahmadiyya Muslim float received much applause and praise along the parade route, while people on sidelines were inquiring about the community and it's message of "Muslims For Loyalty" .
The July 4th. celebration activities were started the evening before at the Baitul Hameed Mosque in Chino where the California State Assemblyman, Marc Steinorth, Councilwoman from City of Rancho Cucamonga, Lynne Kennedy, and Mayor pro Tem, Debra Dorst-Porada, from the City of Ontario were invited for an Iftar dinner.
City of Ontario hosted today's Parade, and Mayor pro Tem Dorst-Porada was very happy for the community taking part in the parade.
