THE regional Islamic education and moral training conference, Jalsa Tarbiyya of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat, Nigeria and members in the eastern region of the country will open today at the Federal Government College, Warri, Delta State.

The three days conference has as theme, Religious tolerance and cooperation: a catalyst for peace, unity and sustainable development.

According to a statement from the Deputy President, Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat, Eastern Region, Dr. Abdul Ganiy Enahoro, lectures and good will messages from leaders of various faiths are major highlights of the conference.

He stated that  “so long as misinformation exist in the public arena that terrorists and insurgents are propelled in their evil ways by the teachings of their religion, then as Muslims, we owe it as a sacred responsibility to debunk such fallacies and convey the true peaceful message of Islam to the world.”

Dr. Enahoro noted that the conference was an important opportunity to decontaminate the real essence of religion, which is to worship the Almighty, who abhors disorderliness.

He recalled that during the last Eastern Conference in August 2014 and the follow up National Peace Symposium by the Northern Region Jama’at held in May 2015, at Abuja International Conference Centre (ICC), religious leaders from various groups were in attendance and they presented position papers on various perspectives of their religion, with emphasis on the beliefs that unite all religions.
