AUSTRALIA Day celebrations throughout the city on Tuesday were as diverse as the community that calls Logan home.

As the most multicultural community in the country, in Logan Australia Day is as much a celebration of the country's diversity as it is about the Australian way of life.

This diversity and spirit of unity was celebrated beautifully at the Bait Al-Masroor mosque in Stockleigh on Tuesday evening.

The local Muslim community hosted the barbecue with a bid to break down the barriers that exist between Muslims and the broader community, and profess their loyalty to Australia and Allah.

Twelve-year-old Ata-ul-Karim said there were numerous reasons he loved Australia and was proud to call it home.

"Here I have the chance to choose my own profession, not one chosen for me because of my gender or social status," he said.

Imam Inam ul-Haq Kauser, national head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association, said in Pakistan Ahmadiyya Muslims were persecuted and prevented from practising their faith.

"Australia has comforted us and given us protection," he said.

"It embraced us like a mother and cared for us like a father when our own motherland rejected us.

"Australia is without comparison, it is the greatest country on earth.

"Everyone must be proud of this beautiful country and thankful to God for bringing them here."
