Yorkshire Young Muslims from Sheffield, Huddersfield, Scunthorpe joined the city councils this morning to help keep Britain's streets clean after the New Year festivities.
As the world rejoiced in New Year activities, youth from the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association (AMYA) Yorkshire Region celebrated by being up at the crack of dawn to pray for a successful 2015 and to bless them with a prosperous 2016 so that they can contribute and serve their local communities.
The big street clean is just another initiative that these young men were able to take part in this winter. The group also organised blood donation sessions, collected money for British Red Cross, visited Children's hospitals and Nursing homes giving them chocolates and gifts and donated food to the homeless & vulnerable on Christmas Day. Earlier in the month they dispatched more than 20 volunteers to assist with the Cumbria Relief Effort.
Nadeem Ahmad, Regional Youth Leader for Yorkshire said: "Our members have enjoyed living in Yorkshire for decades and so any opportunity to help our local Community is a much welcomed one."
"Cleaning the streets of Britain also presents us with an opportunity to become better Muslims as Cleanliness is an integral part of our faith. Giving up a couple of hours can make a huge difference. We are a peace loving and well organised association which will continue to help make this great part of England an even better place to live in."
The founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (on whom be peace), has written the following: "My Desire, My wish and My objective is serving humanity. It's my Job, my Faith, my inspiration and my way."
