The Demystify Islam campaign started in December 2015 in response to the attacks carried out by terrorists in Paris. The group plans to hold more than 135 open houses and make more than 270 visits to more than 35 towns across Canada.

They came with a message of peace, one that may have been a little too quiet.
Members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community from Ottawa held an open house at the Brockville Public Library Saturday afternoon, with the aim of addressing negative stereotypes about Islam.
“Demystify Islam,” a nationwide campaign by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association, aimed at countering the notion that Islam promotes extremism and terrorism and that it promotes violence as a means for conversion and oppression, its members said.
However, by mid-afternoon the display had not attracted any onlookers.
“We need to do more in terms of promoting our events,” Imtiaz Ahmed, an imam with the Ottawa community, acknowledged as he explained the group’s purpose to a reporter.

The actions of terror groups such as the so-called Islamic State (also known as ISIL, ISIS or Daesh), do not reflect the teachings of Islam or the Prophet Muhammad, said Ahmed.
“Islam teaches that killing of one soul is akin to killing of all mankind,” he said.
The Ahmadiyya community believes that Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, who lived from 1835 to 1908, is a reformer promised by prophecy.
Its motto, said Ahmed, is: “Love for all, hatred for none.”
