Sri Lanka: Holy Qur’an Sinhala Translation gifted to schools in hilly areas


Mrs. Mallika opened the Holy Qur’an and read out the meaning of First Chapter (Sura Fathiha) and remarked that the beginning of the verses of this chapter resembles with beginning of the Buddhist Scripture

A two member delegation from the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Sri Lanka (AMJSL) comprising Mr.A. Abdul Aziz, Press Secretary and National Director Faith Outreach - AMJSL and Moulavi K. Muneer Ahmad (Missionary - Pasyala), visited one of the Sri Lanka’s hilly place Kegalle District recently to gift Holy Qur’an Sinhala Translation to Schools in the area.

The delegation met Principal St. Joseph’s Balika Maha Vidyalaya, Kegalle Mrs. Mallika Ranasinghe and gifted copy of Holy Qur’an Sinhala Translation. Principal warmly welcomed the delegation and said she will read this Holy Book as she is in longing of to know about what it says. Mrs. Mallika opened the Holy Qur’an and read out the meaning of First Chapter (Sura Fathiha) and remarked that the beginning of the verses of this chapter resembles with beginning of the Buddhist Scripture and recited and explained. She immediately called the Chief Librarian of the School and introduced Jama’at delegation and asked her to touch the Holy Book while the delegation took the photograph.

The delegation visited Kegallo Vidyalaya, Kegalle and gifted copy of Holy Qur’an Sinhala Translation. Principal, Deputy Principal and Assistant Principal warmly welcomed the delegation. The Assistant Principal (a monk) said that he is very much pleased to accept this Holy Book as you are the one, visited the school for this purpose. He further said that we should also help humanity irrespective of religion and creed.

The delegation met Principal Panakawa Maha Vidyalaya, Kegalle Mr. Pathirage and gifted copy of Holy Qur’an Sinhala Translation. He warmly welcomed the delegation and said that this the day he assumes his duty as Principal and glad to get this presentation.

The delegation visited to Thalangama Central College, Galegamuwa Central College, Maha Naga Maha Vidyalaya, Kegalle, Swarna Jayanth Maha Vidyalaya, Kegalle, `St. Mary’s Central College, Kegalle, Ambapussa Maha Vidyalaya, Warakapola and Gamini Maha Vidyalaya, Warakapola.

The delegation also visited Public Library of Kegalle Town and gifted copy of Holy Qur’an Sinhala Translation.

To all of them, along copy of the Sinhala Translation of the Holy Qur’an with some other literatures including Peace Messages in English as well as Sinhala were presented. Moreover, the Sinhala Translation of the book ‘The Philosophy of the Teachings of Islam’ written by Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad – Founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Islam, also presented.
