Humanity witnessed many unfortunate terrorist attacks in 2015 in various parts of the world. In the last month of 2015, two terrorists took 14 innocent lives in California.

I hope many of us started the new year with new hopes and renewed commitments. Let's work together to stop radicalization and extremism. President Obama has urged Muslim leaders in the U.S. to come forward with unequivocal commitment to work against the evil ideology of terrorists.

In response, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, USA has launched a #TrueIslam campaign which needs support from all Americans to distinguish #TrueIslam from the so-called faith, distorted by extremists, and defeat the wicked cause of extremism. This campaign invites endorsement of the following 11 points of #TrueIslam.

1. Wholly rejects all forms of terrorism.

2. Believes in nonviolent jihad of the self and of the pen.

3. Believes in the equality, education and empowerment of women.

4. Advocates freedom of conscience, religion and speech.

5. Advocates for the separation of mosque and state.

6. Believes in loyalty to your country of residence.

7. Encompasses the universal declaration of human rights.

8. Believes in all verses of the Quran and forbids lying.

9. Recognizes no religion can monopolize salvation.

10. Believes in the need for unified Muslim leadership.

11. Wholly rejects the concept of a bloody messiah.

Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, USA has multiple chapters throughout the country and Virginia as well. Ahmadiyya Muslim mosques/prayer centers all over the country are always open for guests. We have a local prayer center at 2600 Omisol Road, Woodbridge, where everyone is welcome to freely stop by or visit. The local center has approximately 570 members, including residents of Stafford County.

Members take part in the Dale City Independence Day Parade to demonstrate the teachings of #TrueIslam, i.e. "Love for one's country is part of faith.” Members regularly participate in Prince William County’s 9-11 Remembrance Ceremony to pay respect to the thousands we lost that day.

The local Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is actively engaged with our county leaderships and police departments. Local candidates from both parties are also invited to address the community members during election time.

The community is also active in humanitarian and volunteer activities e.g. food drives; coat drives etc. to engage the community for serving humanity.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association is working with Keep Prince William Beautiful and participating in Adopt a Road Program. We have adopted Gemini Way (between Dale Blvd and Minnieville Road). Members also volunteer for shelters, planting trees and cleaning up the dog parks, among other efforts.

On a regular basis, children’s classes are held to teach the message of #TrueIslam and to serve humanity. Adult members (both men and women) are also engaged in community meetings and lectures on the teachings of #TrueIslam, to remind them of their social responsibilities and how they can give back to their communities.

Community leaders through their sermons and messages from the prayer center are making it a point to highlight how true Islam differs from extremism and are urging members to endorse the 11 points and share them with their friends and local communities.

As a member of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community from Stafford, not only do I wish to extend wishes of peace and happiness for 2016 to my fellow residents of Stafford, but I also want you to come forward to endorse the 11 points at trueIslam.com or at least spread the word.

Let's unite so that just as the false ideology of extremists clearly has no grounds to stand on, similarly the extremism/extremists may also be eradicated from the world soon.
