Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Bangalore, India organized a Hafta Tabligue (Outreach Week) from the 13th till the 20th of February.
Many activities were organized during the week and were successfully conducted.
5 days Outreach Program
Several teams from elders, youths and women's wings of the community visited various institutes, religious organizations, government offices, academicians, political leaders, religious leaders, and about 350 other eminent personalities; and introduced them to the Jamaat Ahmadiyya and gifted them with World Crisis and Pathway to Peace, a collection of speeches by worldwide Ahmadiyya leader, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad; another book Life of Muhammad (saw) and other material in English and Kannada.
The locations visited included more than 30 popular churches in Bangalore, temples, a Parsi Temple, a Bahai Centre, a Jewish Chabad and Maulana Wahiduddin Khan publishers in Bangalore. Teams also met nearly 40 senior doctors and management of the Bangalore Medical College, St. Johns Medical College and Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences and nearly 200 Lawyers of the Mayo Hall Court and the Magistrates Court in Bangalore. In addition to these few libraries, Kannada Sahitya Academy, Mythic Society and Police Stations were also given a visit.
In the past teams had attempted many times with no success to meet the Arch-Bishop of Bangalore, Rev. Barnard Morris, of the Roman Catholic Church, however this time team was able to meet him, speak to him, introduce the Ahmadiyya commuity and share pleasantries.
All the good leaders and priests at the churches appreciated the Ahmadiyya teams efforts, many were astonished and openly expressed that it was very nice to see Muslims coming out dispelling misconceptions and making efforts to establish Peace in the society. Most of them said they never saw or heard of Muslims speaking of peace. Many promised to continue interacting with us in the future and also invited us to visit them again.
"I have seen such kind of Muslims for the first time"
At the Parsee Zoroastrian Anjuman - After hearing about the efforts of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community and their Khalifa Mirza Masroor Ahmad towards peace, the priest was astonished and said "I have seen such kind of Muslims for the first time," adding that, “in my eyes, you people are the real muslims” as many Moulanas visit the temple but never speak to us in this way and on such issues.
A team of 6 members of Ahmadi Muslim women met the Honarable Minister for Women and Child Welfare for the Government of Karnataka Shrimati Umashri, 2 MLAs and other leaders and to the Brahma Kumari Samaj, introduced Jamaat and presented the literature. The Minister promised to attend future events of the Jamaat as well.
Troublemakers encountered
During the distribution of the books at the Magistrates Court, a few lawyers caught hold of our 2 elders, Shariq Majeed and Ismail Master, and complained to the court registrar that people were distributing material since morning which could incite hatred and violence.
Following through on the complaint the registrar called the Police, who took both elders to the nearby police station. At the station the inspector went through the first few pages of the Ahmadiyya material which included the True Concept of Jihad, Peace folders, World Crisis book and with full respect asked Ahmadi members to be seated, instructed his constables to treat them with honour and offered them water. The Police Inspector was very impressed with community's peace work and said we were doing a great job and must continue doing so.
A Couple of teams also visited 7 houses of non-Ahmadis where MTA has been fixed in the past few years and asked their feedback.
