The terrorist attacks in Brussels have not only left the people of Belgium in a state of shock and disarray but the entire world mourns the death of innocent people. As an imam of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Pittsburgh, I condemn these barbaric attacks done in the name of Islam and offer my heartfelt prayers and condolences to the victims and their families.
In this difficult time let’s stand united against violence and extremism and not let the terrorists divide us so we fall prey to their evil agenda. These attacks were supposedly carried out as revenge for the capture of the mastermind of the Paris attacks, Salah Abdeslam.
Abdeslam had a history of involvement with drugs and alcohol, both of which are not allowed in Islam. These things prove that he was already not following Islam, otherwise he would never have thought of taking the lives of innocent civilians because Islam says that if you kill an innocent person it is as if you have killed the entire of humanity.
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community strives to educate its fellow Americans about the true teachings of Islam. It is for this reason that we have launched a new campaign called “True Islam and Extremists.” I urge my fellow Americans to visit www.trueislam.com where we have put together 11 points that will help you understand Islam better and will enable you to differentiate between true Islam and the extremists.
