USA: Ahmadi Muslims decry attacks in Belgium | Furqan Mehmud
While we do not wish to compare tragedies, it should be recognized that radical elements are a mutual enemy, and the taking of innocent lives anywhere is a tragedy.

As Ahmadi Muslims, we condemn these barbaric attacks on innocent civilians in Brussels, and our heartfelt condolences go out to all those effected by this tragedy.
We stand with the people of Belgium and pray for their recovery and for justice to be served swiftly.
Terrorism is never justified, and all those who perpetrate these atrocities clearly ignore basic principles of Islam. The Quran categorically condemns terrorism when it states, "Whosoever kills an innocent ... it is as if he has killed all of mankind." (5:32).
The attacks were supposedly carried out as revenge for the capture of the mastermind of the Paris attacks, Salah Abdesalam. Abdesalam's history of involvement with drugs and alcohol, both prohibited by Islam, shows the extreme disregard such extremists have for the teachings of Islam.
We also bring attention to the disparity in responses toward attacks in non-Muslim countries compared with Muslim countries. Recent bombings in Turkey were largely ignored or at least not equally regarded as attacks in France and Belgium. While we do not wish to compare tragedies, it should be recognized that radical elements are a mutual enemy, and the taking of innocent lives anywhere is a tragedy.
Please join us in fighting against terrorism and join us at trueislam.com. On March 31, we will speak on True Islam at Worcester State University's Blue Lounge from 6-8 p.m.
