A US lawmaker "received a death threat" from ISIS for being a "politically active apostate," reports the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

The threat was made in a magazine published by ISIS to Keith Ellison (D-MN) who is the first Muslim elected to Congress, and Co-Chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, promoting issues like debt-free college, expanding Social Security, Wall Street reform and marriage equality.

Ellison responded: "The fact that I'm on [ISIS]'s bad side means I am fighting for things like justice." And he's determined to keep fighting for justice in Congress -- not get intimidated, it was reported.

Ellison said in a statement that Daesh — another name for ISIS — is a "collection of liars, murderers, torturers and rapists."
