AN annual peace conference, organised by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association of Halesowen, is set to take place on Sunday May 22.

The conference, at Baitul Ghafoor Mosque, Long Lane, will be attended by members of public as well as representatives of political parties, voluntary groups and religious organisations, including the Bishop of Dudley, the Right Rev Graham Usher, James Morris MP and Maulana Ataul Mujeeb Rashed, Imam of The London Mosque.

The event, which starts at 4pm, aims to promote better understanding between faith and community groups to help create a more harmonious society - and the theme for this year's conference is Khilafat, Peace and Justice.

Dr Masood Majoka, president of AMA Halesowen, said: “One of the beauties of living in Halesowen is being a part of its diversity, as it has a multitude of cultural and religious variety, all of which coexist alongside one another.

“In a unique environment such as this, occasionally, it is important to share this splendid diversity with each other and remind ourselves of the things that we have in common.”

Admission to the event is free and a complimentary dinner will be provided. Doors open at 3.30pm.

Members of public can contact Wasim Shah to confirm attendance by calling 07828308693 or emailing BaitulGhafoor@gmail.com.
