Terrorist attacks across the globe and the reactions to them have created a lot of misconceptions about the Islamic faith. This summer the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at group is trying to change all that.
“We are using this platform to combat terrorism and to combat extremism. To say that no longer will we allow extremist ideologies to prevail, rather Islam is a peaceful religion and Islam itself means peace,” said Imam Zeeshan Ahmed, the Regina spokesman for the group.
Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at currently have a mobile exhibition travelling across Canada in order to teach people about Islam called #MobileMuslims. The exhibit is in celebration of the group’s 50th year being in Canada and will visit 25 cities. On Tuesday it stopped in Regina.
“We thought that we could set up a mobile exhibition in which Canadians that have any questions about Islam and have any inquiries about any aspect of Islam, they can openly come up to us in an open discussion and ask us these questions,” Ahmed said.

Alyson Ford stopped to chat during the afternoon. She had walked by earlier and took a pamphlet, but came back later in order to get more information.
“I like to learn about everybody’s religions and paths in life and I guess the more communication that you have with each other the more respect that you can have for each other,” Ford said.
