Hampton Park Koran exhibition to help locals understand Islam

A MUSLIM group in the southeast is trying to help people in the community get a better understanding about Islam by holding a Koran exhibition at Hampton Park Library tomorrow.

This is the second exhibition of its kind held by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association, which previously held a successful installation in Narre Warren.

The exhibition aims to provide locals with an introduction to Islam, identify common ground between Islam and other major religions and dispel myths and misinformation about Islam.

Visitors have the opportunity to ask questions about Islamic practices.

Items on display include sample copies of the Koran translated into world languages, banners showing teachings from the Koran on topics such as science, interfaith relations, world peace and women’s rights, and canvas paintings of Arabic verses done by members of the Ahmadiyya organisation.

Cr Steve Beardon said he and Cr Rex Flannery would attend the exhibition, saying it was important that the city embrace diversity and inclusion.

The exhibition will run from 10am to 4pm on November 26 at 24 Stuart Ave, Hampton Park.

Admission is free.
