USA: Ahmadiyya Muslim Imam Addresses Interfaith Prayer Breakfast in Upland, California

Representing Islam, Imam Zafarullah Hanjra thanked the members of the Upland Police and Fire Departments and Upland's Mayor and City Council for their dedicated public service.

Chino-area Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Imam Zafarullah Hanjra from the Baiutul Hameed Mosque was one of many speakers and attendees at the 21st annual Upland Interfaith Prayer Breakfast held Oct. 27th from 7:00-8:30am at the Upland Fire station.

The Prayer Breakfast was a fundraiser for the Upland Interfaith Council, which hosted the event.

The theme of this year's Prayer Breakfast was "Many Faiths – One Nation." Following the Pledge of Allegiance and the singing of the "Star Spangled Banner" by a local High School choir, there was a welcome address by Upland's Mayor Ray Musser.

Several public servants and officials were on-hand representing the Fire and Police Departments of Upland, as well as members of the Upland City Council.

The Faith Leaders at the Prayer Breakfast, offered brief prayers or spiritual remarks from their religious teachings, represented many different spiritual paths, including the Ba'hai tradition, Judaism, Sunni and Ahmadiyya Islam, Catholic and Protestant Christianity, the LDS Mormon Church and Religious Science.

Representing Islam, Imam Zafarullah Hanjra thanked the members of the Upland Police and Fire Departments and Upland's Mayor and City Council for their dedicated public service. The Imam then spoke on the need for increased prayers in these difficult times and for the necessity of "walking the walk" by putting our faith into living practice dedicated to serving humanity and bettering ourselves so we can contribute to a better world.

Imam Zafarullah emphasized that the Ahmadiyya motto of "Love for All, Hatred for None" was a motto for all people to follow who desire peace and harmony in the world. The Imam ended his remarks by inviting everyone to come to the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community's upcoming West Coast annual Convention (Jalsa) on the last Friday-Saturday-Sunday in December, especially the Guest Session to be held Friday, Dec. 23rd starting at 3:00pm.

The program closed with a musical spiritual "Sing-Along" conducted by guitar-slinging Cantor Paul Buch from Temple Beth Israel.
