"One who is not grateful to fellow beings is not grateful to Allah"
Imam Mohammed Zafarullah, Regional Missionary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA, accompanied by six members from the Baitul Hameed Mosque in Chino, California, attended an Interfaith Thanksgiving Worship Service in San Bernardino, on Monday 21st November.
The event was sponsored by the San Bernardino Clergy Association of California.
Several clergies and leaders of a number of Churches and Mosque, shared the Thanksgiving message according to their faith and beliefs.
In addressing the audience of about 100 participants, Imam Zafarullah recited four verses of the Quran in Arabic (Chapter 8:26, 14:8, 16:79 and 30:47) which are relevant to the occasion.
He continued by saying, “If you consider the verses I just read before you, it seems that each one of us has much to be thankful for. Thanksgiving is a universal concept, and most religions teach their followers to be grateful to their Creator, as well as to each other. Similarly in Islam, being grateful is a very important aspect of life, so much so that the Holy Quran starts with the gratitude of God Almighty in chapter One.”
Continuing he remarked, “According to Islam, human beings have been created for the worship of God in two ways: one is to serve God and humanity, and the other is to be thankful to God Almighty."
"The Holy Quran," Imam said, "reminds us again and again, that we should be thankful to Allah for the favors that He has bestowed on us."
"He gave us life, parents to protect and raise us, and everything in nature to help us."
Imam Zafarullah related a saying of the Holy Founder of Islam, the Prophet Muhammad wherein he is reported to have said "One who is not grateful for small things is not grateful for big ones.”
Imam Mohammed Zafarullah concluded his presentation with an other Tradition which states, “The Holy Prophet, Muhammad said that one who is not grateful to fellow beings is not grateful to Allah”
“Let us remind ourselves this thanksgiving season to be grateful for our family, friends, and for the country we live in," Imam said in closing, adding, "And, let us remember to thank God Almighty for His favors, big and small. I can assure you that the more grateful we are, the more blessings we will receive.”
Imam Zafarullah and other delegates handed out formal invitation cards to the audience to attend the Guest Session of the upcoming Annual Islamic Convention of the West Coast Region to be held at the Baitul Hameed Mosque in Chino on Friday December 2016.
