Obituary – Principal Monam Billah, Renowned Educationist of Bangladesh
He was a true follower of the life of Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and the Promised Messiah (AS). He had special love, honour and admiration for the institution of Khilafat-e Ahmadiyya.

Principal Monam Billah, Ameer of Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at, Chittagong, Bangladesh passed away at a private hospital in Dhaka on 18th September, 2016, aged 75.
He left behind his wife Mrs Nusrat Monam; two sons (Mr Mutasim Billah now lives in Germany with wife & one son), (Mr Ahmad Dawood now lives in Bangladesh with wife & one daughter & one son); two daughters (Mrs Sayema Monam now lives in Oxford, UK with husband & two daughters), & (Mrs Sadaf Monam now lives in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia with husband & two daughters and many relatives & well-wishers to mourn his death. Late Monam Billah was the second son of Late Mohammad Shafi and Late Parastar Fatema.
His Holiness Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, Khalifatul Masih led the funeral prayer in absentia of Late Monam Billah on Thursday, the 8th December, 2016 at 11.30am at Fazl Mosque, London.
Late Monam Billah was blessed to be the grandson of Late Maulvi Abdul Majeed of Bhagalpur, India who had the opportunity to communicate with the Promised Messiah (peace be upon him) and after-words went to Qadian in 1908 to join the Ahmadiyya community at the hand of Hazrat Alhaj Maulvi Nuruddin, Khalifatul Masih 1 (RA).
Late Monam Billah who was a man of pious virtues and prayerful had complete reliance on Almighty Allah. He was a true follower of the life of Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and the Promised Messiah (AS). He had special love, honour and admiration for the institution of Khilafat-e Ahmadiyya.
He served the Jama’at as Secretary-Education, Secretary- Training, Zae'em Aa’la Majlis Ansarullah, President, Chawk Bazar Halka for many years with utmost sincere and care. As an Ameer of Chittagong Jama’at, which is considered as the second most important Jama’at in Bangladesh, late Monam Billah discharged his duties and responsibilities with paramount sincerity to the entire satisfaction of Allah Almighty and Khilaft-e-Ahmadiyya. He was a Musi. Generosity and sympathy were also his special characteristics and he was very much fascinated for the service towards humanity and wellbeing of the poor people.
He was very keen on propagation of peaceful Islam and throughout his life he would never let go off any preaching opportunity. He used to preach without fearing anyone. It was through his efforts that he gave the beneficence of the light of Ahmadiyyat to students, teachers and all walks of the people of the atmosphere.
Late Monam Billah was a man of high moral values. He served Nizampur University College in Bangladesh since 1965 to 2005. During this tenure, he served as Head of English Department, Vice Principal and Principal for about 15 years at the institution. He was member Syndicate & Academic Council of University of Chittagong & Comilla University. Late Billah also served as Examiner and Head Examiner of University of Chittagong, National University, Bangladesh, Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education, Comilla, and Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education, Chittagong. He rendered as Chief of Appeal & Arbitration Committee of Comilla Education Board.
The first Janaza Prayer of the deceased was held at the head quarter of Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Bangladesh. After this his dead body was taken to Nizampur University College where the second Janaza Prayer was held. It was attended by a good number people who comprised of students, teachers, political leaders, local people including Vice Chancellor of a Private University who used to be deceased’s student. Late Monam Billah was buried at Ahmadiyya Graveyard, Muradpur after Janaza Prayer held at Baitul Baset Mosque, Chawk Bazar, Chittagong. Members of the community, Professors of various colleges, his former students now serving at various levels of the country attended the funeral prayer.
Late Monam Billah, who served the education sector was among the few successful Principal’s in the history of Bangladesh who made the changes on a better note. Late Billah did his B.A (Honours) & MA in English from University of Dhaka.
We pray that Allah blesses Late Monam Billah Sahib with a lofty station in paradise and enables all those he has left behind the strength to bear their loss.
