Every year Ahmadi Muslim Youth across the country find fellowship with Christians, Jews and other faiths by handing out gifts during the holiday season.
Although Christmas isn't a holiday Muslims celebrate, that doesn't mean we don't take part in the joy of the season. As Ahmadi Muslims we wish everyone a safe and happy holiday season. We are thankful that we live in a country where members of all faiths can celebrate in peace without persecution.
Giving to others, an aspect of the holiday season, is something that everyone can get behind. Last year, participants in this campaign all across the US gave out 2,000 holiday gifts to our neighbors in communities surrounding our mosques. This year, AMYA plans to double that number. By giving gifts we are building bridges and facilitating harmony among the members of our community. Through selfless acts we can help others understand what true Islam is all about while combating intolerance and stereotypes.
We do this because as Muslims we must be kind and loving towards our neighbors. The Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said, "Whoever believes in Allah...should be generous to his neighbor." (Malik Al-Muwatta) So give a gift or wish your neighbors happy holidays, it's a small act that will go a long way!
