Ten members of the Kingston Muslim Community visited a care home on Monday the 26th of December 2016. Volunteers of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association (AMYA) spent time with and spoke with the residents of the Brighterkind Care Home in Kingston.
The youths took gifts of sweets and fruit as well as seasonal greeting cards with them and were praised by the staff of care home for their initiative in spreading festive cheer.
Tajammal Ahmad, the local youth leader in Kingston, said "To serve mankind is part of our faith and we undertake regular community projects in our local area. To fulfil this commandment, we decided to pay a visit to our local Care Home and bring gifts and sweets to the residents."
"We want to spend some time with the residents and speak to them, engage in conversation and share the joy with the residents at a time they hold dear to their hearts.”
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth do not only limit their 'service to mankind' by visiting the elderly, this is just one of the many avenues they utilise to fulfil their duties as Muslims.
AMYA is looking to serve the locals across South West London in the upcoming weeks and will be cleaning the streets of Wimbledon.
